Wolves' Jonny Castro Otto keen to finish season

Wolves defender Jonny Castro Otto is still focused on seeing out the season – although it would be ‘a shame’ to play behind closed doors.

The Premier League’s ‘Project Restart’ proposals would see the campaign restarted at neutral venues, without fans.

The aim is to get back going and not end the season now, like in France, although various clubs’ doctors have expressed fears over the players’ safety.

Wolves are returning to individual training on Monday and weighing in on the situation, wing-back Otto said: “I think it’s a very difficult issue.

“I would sincerely like to finish, so that when the season ends it will be the most deserved for everyone.

“I think that a decision with nine rounds left would be bad for some teams.

“I think that it will also be a shame to play those nine rounds behind closed doors, but we can make the effort to finish it like that and then next season we can try to improve the measures or take others.”

Playing the remaining games would give Wolves the chance of qualifying for the Champions League as they are currently sixth in the table.

They also want to see the Europa League out, being in the last 16 of the competition.

“I do believe that we maintained a great discipline in the league and also in the Europa League,” said Otto.

“If in the end the decision is to play this year’s matches, let’s hope to reach that level again and if we have a month of mini season, let’s try to reach the best level for those matches.”

The 26-year-old Spaniard added: “I think it’s a complicated situation for everyone, not only for athletes, but for all of humanity. I think it’s a new situation that we have to look at.”
