Former Wolves midfielder Paul Cook's offer of help rejected by Asda
Former Wolves midfielder Paul Cook has revealed he applied to become an Asda delivery driver to help deliver goods during the coronavirus pandemic – only to be turned down.
The 53-year-old, who played for Wolves for five years – and is the current Wigan manager – said that he d been rejected for several jobs, in an effort to help his local community.
“I’ve actually applied for a couple of jobs but I’ve been knocked back with them all to be honest,” he said.
“Which is quite worrying in the football world because if I come out of my present job, the likelihood of me getting quick employment doesn’t seem to be good!
"Like everybody, you just want to help, in general for people in and around the community it was good to try and help out.
"I tried to get into the local Asda to see if they wanted any delivery guys but unfortunately I didn’t meet the criteria.”
