Former Wolves midfielder Paul Cook delivering the goods
Former Wolves midfielder Paul Cook has swapped the dugout for a delivery van to help out those in need during the coronavirus crisis.
The 53-year-old, who is the manager of Championship side Wigan, has signed up to be a supermarket delivery driver.
“I thought it was quite an obvious and simple thing for me to try to do,” said Cook.
“The best way for most people to help is to be active and do stuff.
“From a personal point of view, I felt being able to deliver for food chains might be best, especially for elderly
people who are being asked to stay at home and might require a delivery.”
Cook made 193 appearances for Wolves between 1989 and 1994, scoring 19 goals.
His Wigan side are currently 20th in the Championship – two points above the drop zone.
Cook’s work follows on from Danny Batth – the former Wolves captain, who now plays for Wigan’s relegation rivals Stoke – donating 300 parcels of food and toiletries to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
