Reaction to the Result

Wolves aren't too bad in London are they? Their formidable run in the capital continues and what a way to do it. This team just doesn't know when they're beaten. The naivety that Wolves showed in the reverse fixture showed no signs of returning as it was Wolves who mastered the dark arts of tactical fouling and stopping counter-attacks. The first half was poor, the second half was as near to perfect as a display you'd wish to see. Matt Doherty has certainly made me eat some humble pie the past month and rightly so – he's been sensational. A huge three points in the race for the top four.

Man of the Match

It's safe to say that Diogo is back and he was on form again for Wolves. He caused problems all afternoon for Spurs and his direct and powerful running turned the game on its head in the second half.

Something to Improve

The first half was poor from Wolves and the first goal was avoidable. Saiss should never have made the across-field pass and Boly looked a little shaky too. They both grew into the game though and helped Wolves clinch a massive three points.

Reaction to the Result

Sometimes, the result, is all that matters. This was one of those games. We owed Spurs a defeat after our encounter at home. To come from behind against such an ungracious manager was pleasing. Jose learnt from the last game and got his team to start fouling Traore in the first half as well as the second, contributing to a scrappy game at times. We dug in, spent a lot of time on the back foot, but created three quality goals.

Man of the Match

Spurs' approach, pressing high and matching up our wide men, took us out of our comfort zone. Our back five were stretched while Neves and Moutinho were not on the ball as much as we'd want. We kept our shape well though. MOTM was Jota who looked quality throughout. Also, a shout out to Neto, who had a fine fifteen minutes cameo at the end.

Something to Improve

Vinagre looked unsteady when having to defend, as we gave their wide men too much time and space.

Absolutely fantastic three points and we are now within three points of the top four, love it. I can’t get enough of watching this team at the moment, the mentality we have is ridiculously good because we went down twice, still came back both times and then scored the winner. We did struggle first half, especially in transition from attack to defence as Spurs looked to control the game for large parts. Aurier’s goal was a good finish but Vinagre needed to read his touch so much better. The link up between Jota and Raul for the winner was brilliant and the way Jimenez took the goal was incredible, absolutely sold Tanganga for a hot dog.

Man of the Match

Jota and Doherty both had quality games and were the standout players. Jota is on absolute fire right now and when he’s like this, he’s unstoppable. Even in the first half he was involved on the ball a lot but in the second he started doing so much more with it. In the perfect place for his goal and his assist for Raul’s goal was top drawer. Doherty has had criticism this season, mainly for his defensive side of the game and some of it has been fair but here and in recent games, he has improved a hell of a lot. Going forward he was exceptional and defensively it was one of the best I’ve seen from him, the way he celebrated his block at the end tells you everything about this team and how much they want to win!

Something to Improve

Defensively we had some problems, the same on Thursday night. I think this was more about the transition between attack and defence because Spurs had the extra man in midfield and they took advantage of it because they would isolate Vinagre with Aurier. The Ivorian was ripping up our Ruben but in the second half, he improved massively. Defending is the weakest side of Vinagre’s game, quite a few times he needed to play on Aurier’s touch to win the ball back. Hopefully we can get back to a clean sheet this upcoming weekend against Brighton.

What a fantastic week we’ve had. Two Premier League wins and progression in Europa League. We’ve seen 13 goals and thankfully, we got the 3-2 loss and win the right way around. In our first visit to the impressive new stadium we enjoyed a performance and result which matched last seasons, at Wembley stadium. Another memorable day. We were not at our best in the first half, but make no mistake, we deserved the win following an very impressive second half performance. We created most chances and Wolves fans celebrated in all four sides of the stadium. This was a big game and makes our Champions League credentials very clear. I love how all the talk is about Man U, Tottenham and Arsenal while Wolves and Sheffield U are nicely poised to gate crash the party.

Man of the Match

It’s a hard task to pick just one. Jota, Jimenez, Traore and Doherty combined really well to open up the Tottenham defence on a number of occasions. All three goals were well worked, with Vinagre, Traore and Jota providing the assists, but the winner was sheer class with Jota dribbling half of the pitch before putting Jimenez through on goal. His left foot finish was a worthy winner. Man of the Match goes to a Jota, closely followed by Doherty.

Something to Improve

We started the game slowly, but you can’t criticise when playing Thursday – Sunday. We finished the game very strongly which has become a consistent trend following our Europa League games. We are blessed with this team and manager. Their desire and commitment is top notch and they are getting better and better as the season goes on. Keep dreaming Wolves fans!

New ground, same result. As ever a great comeback, twice, with some great attacking play and clinical finishing. Some great goals and another successful trip to a new ground against Spurs, who in fairness we made look decidedly average.

Man of the Match

Another team effort but for me Coady and Jota were the picks.

Something to Improve

Some naive defending at times but you can’t complain!
