Renat Dadashov scored for Wolves under-23s against Birmingham – after turning them down on deadline day – as they drew 2-2 in the Premier League Cup.

The 20-year-old centre forward from Azerbaijan was wanted by the Blues just before last Friday's 11pm transfer deadline, but he rejected a loan move to St Andrew's to continue his development at Molineux.

And he grabbed an important goal against them for James Collins' charges this afternoon, twisting and turning beyond their defence and lashing home after Wolves had Chem Campbell sent off for two bookable offences.

The cup encounter at Loughborough University saw Birmingham take the lead when Jayden Reid coolly slotted the ball past Joe Young.

Wolves levelled before the break, though, as Taylor Perry found the top corner with a terrific strike from the edge of the box.

Reid put Blues back in front early into the second half, and they seemed on course for victory as Campbell was shown a second yellow for a deliberate handball.

But Dadashov, who has also been put into Wolves' Europa League squad along with Daniel Podence and Leonardo Campana, saved the day.

Wolves are unbeaten in the competition – after beating Birmingham, Derby and drawing with Leeds previously – and sit at the top of Group H.
