The 29-year-old, having slipped down the Molineux pecking order, has gone to the Foxes on loan for the rest of the season, with the option to buy in the summer – and an obligation if he makes a set number of appearances.

Bennett leaves Molineux after arriving on a free transfer from Norwich in the summer of 2017 and helping Wolves to promotion to the Premier League, getting into the Europa League and making it to the FA Cup semi-finals.

"It's great to be here. It's a massive club and the league table doesn't lie," said Bennett on joining Leicester.

"The manager has taken the team to another level and the players deserve great credit too. The club is moving in a forward direction and it's really good to be part of it.

"I've experienced the atmosphere at King Power Stadium before too with Wolves and with Norwich City. It's a great environment here, and it's a journey I'm looking forward to."

Bennett had been left out of recent Wolves squads with Leander Dendoncker and Romain Saiss playing at the back alongside Conor Coady, and Max Kilman being on the bench. Willy Boly is also now back from a broken ankle.

Wolves chief Nuno Espirito Santo added: "Ryan has been amazing for us in his two and a half seasons and we wish him all the best at Leicester."
