The hunt goes on for Wolves as deadline approaches

Wolves’ striker search seems set to extend into the summer – although Nelson Oliveira remains a deadline day option.

A move for a centre forward to ease the load on star man Raul Jimenez is not currently in the works.

Ex-Nottingham Forest, Norwich and Reading man Oliveira, though, has been monitored throughout the window and a late move is still a possibility – albeit less likely at this late stage.

AEK Athens’ asking price for the 28-year-old is £5.5million.

He has scored nine goals in 16 league games for the Greek side this term.

Dyego Sousa – a 30-year-old of Chinese club Shenzhen – has been linked with a move to Molineux in the Portuguese press, but there is believed to be nothing in that.

With the window shutting at 11pm on Friday night, the onus is on getting some players out.

Benny Ashley-Seal is set to head out on loan to a League One club, with Bristol Rovers among a few sides interested in the 21-year-old target man.

He has been in Wolves squads in recent weeks as Nuno Espirito Santo’s back-up striker – and even started against Manchester United in the FA Cup – but the club are keen for him to get valuable senior experience under his belt.

And with the arrival of winger Daniel Podence for £17m, Diogo Jota has the potential to play in a central role in attack if Jimenez is absent.

Pedro Neto and Adama Traore could play in a front two with Jimenez as well.

Centre-half Ryan Bennett has been linked with a move away and is of interest to clubs in the Premier League, Championship and Scottish Premiership.

However, a concrete offer is yet to be made for the 29-year-old former Norwich man, whose contract at Wolves runs until June 2021.

He was signed on a free transfer from the Canaries in the summer of 2017 and has fallen down the pecking order over the past few months due to Leander Dendoncker and Romain Saiss impressing at the back and Max Kilman stepping up.

Winger Jordan Graham is on the verge of a move to Gillingham, though.

The 24-year-old has been plagued by injuries in recent years and spent the last couple of months with the under-23s.

Bright Enobakhare, who came back from a loan spell at Wigan earlier this month, could be out the door too – Blues a possible destination.

The 21-year-old has recently been training with James Collins’ under-23s.
