The striker heads back to Italy after only half of a season at Molineux, joining the Serie A side on an 18-month loan which will become permanent in the summer of 2021.

The Express & Star understands the move has been made after Nuno Espirito Santo decided Cutrone was not in his long-term plans.

Wolves will receive £15.3million for the striker – £900,000 less than they paid AC Milan for his services last summer. There is no buy-back clause.

“He’s going. He went before, but then returned on Wednesday,” said Nuno.

“Some details were not totally clear, but now he’s going to Fiorentina.

“We analyse it, but we wish Patrick all the best and, hopefully, he can have the game time – which is important for his development.”

Cutrone made 12 Premier League appearances – three starts – under Nuno, scoring twice.
