Reaction to the Result

The less said about this game the better. The magic of the cup rarely threatened to be cast upon Molineux in a match that was as boring as a 0-0 could possibly be. Fatigue looked to have played a key part in the performance for Wolves and too many players had a 6/10 performance. Both teams rarely threatened to get out of second gear. However, it shows how far we’ve come that Manchester United have come to Molineux to get a replay. Restricting them to no efforts at goal and a clean sheet isn’t all that bad.

Man of the Match

Neves was probably the pick of the bunch. Played a bit further up the pitch and even took a touch in the oppositions box. Marshalled the midfield well but really missed Moutinho.

Something to Improve

I think this game shows the need for reinforcements this January. The squad is so threadbare, another couple of injuries could leave us in crisis.

Reaction to the Result

I never expected a Wolves/Man U game to be so forgettable. The first half was a hard watch with Matic seemingly in total control of midfield, and he still had time to double-team Traore. Looking at the United line-up, they were there for the taking. Our chances are unlikely to be as good in the replay. A missed opportunity to claim a big six scalp.

Man of the Match

No-one at all looked above average. Coady, Dendoncker and Ruddy were slightly better than the others.

Something to Improve

Vinagre had a complete nightmare. Enthusiasm helps but his delivery and decision making was the worst I have seen from him. Hugely disappointing.

Reaction to the Result

It’s a measure of how far the club has come when you are disappointed to draw with Man Utd. This felt like a defeat with a replay being the worst outcome. However, I’m pleased to be in the draw and hope we can get a result at Old Trafford to progress further. We weren’t at our best. We contributed to a poor first half with slow, methodical play which was generally too deep. We were much more on the front foot in the second half and created a number of chances, the best falling to Doherty who headed poorly onto his arm. No arguments with that VAR decision.

Man of the Match

Neto has grabbed his opportunity fully and had another very good game. He is proving to be a very able deputy for Jota who may not get back into the team as easy as he has in the past. Full of running, not only is he able to take on defenders, but he is also prepared to chase back to win possession when required. Otto and Moutinho both impacted well when coming on from the bench.

Something to Improve

We did not get Traore on the ball often enough. Partly through his own inability to find space, and partly because he and Doherty were not linking as successfully as they have been doing. We were playing very wide, which meant both Ashley-Seal and Jimenez were very isolated in the middle.

Reaction to the Result

For some of us, this is the best competition in the world. The FA Cup. It still sends shivers down the spine of what appears to be a rapidly diminishing band of football fans where a point away at rubbish like Watford in the greed league is deemed to be far more important than beating Manchester United in the third round of the world's oldest and best knock out competition. A half-hearted team selection in front of a half hearted crowd with a half heated desire to win – breaks my heart and to me sums up everything wrong with modern football. And the end result? A midweek replay which no-one wanted (other than the TV companies).

Man of the Match

Raul when he came on and Doherty would be my picks.

Something to Improve

Take the competition seriously or don't enter it.
