Wolves boss Nuno wants penalties rather than FA Cup replays
Nuno Espirito Santo insists he would prefer draws in the FA Cup to go straight to penalties instead of replays after Wolves' stalemate against Manchester United.
A goalless game at Molineux means Wolves now have a third-round replay at Old Trafford, having already played 36 games in all competitions this season.
The replay will take place a week on Tuesday or Wednesday, but Nuno said: "I would like it to go straight to penalties.
"If you ask me what is my preference, I would say straight to penalties.
"The game would become more emotional, for sure.
"The FA Cup would be more emotional if it goes straight to penalties, as both teams would go for it."
Replays cut off by the competition's fifth round – and then extra time, and penalties if needed, are used to determine winners.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not mind Nuno's idea either, as he said: "Yes. Why not? It's a debate we could have."
Wolves thought they had avoided a replay when Matt Doherty headed home – but the goal was disallowed as it hit his hand on the way in.
"I think it was a good performance – two different halves," said Nuno.
"In the first half, Man United had the ball and created a lot of situations.
"They created us a lot of problems, to press and to recover. I think we did better in the second half – much, much better.
"We controlled the game, totally, so I'm happy with that. It was a tough game with not too many spaces.
"In the second half, we created – and we could have done it.
"Now, we have to play again. We have to go. We want to compete, so we will recover and play. We are ready for it."
Nuno, meanwhile, omitted Patrick Cutrone from his squad – and youngster Benny Ashley-Seal made his first senior start in attack.
The striker was left out as the club want to avoid him picking up a knock ahead of a potential move away this month.
"I am not going to say many things, but I had a good conversation with Patrick," added Nuno.
"We decided for him not to be involved. It was the best decision, so let's wait and see now."
