Nuno is keen to bring in fresh faces this month and has a set number of signings in mind, although he would not reveal the figure.

And now he wants his ideas for Wolves – who host Manchester United in the FA Cup tomorrow – to come to fruition.

“One thing is wishing, which is totally different to reality. Now is time to work,” said Nuno.

“Now I think is the right moment to start working on that.

“The transfer window gives you the chance to bring things that can improve you.

“That’s what I’m looking at – the right decisions that can improve us, so that we can continue to compete well.”

Wolves are thought to be on the lookout for an

attack-minded player this window.

But when asked if an injury to Diogo Jota accentuates the need to sign a forward, Nuno said: “We need to bring (players in). Who and which positions I will not share with you, unfortunately.

“That is not the right thing to do, especially when there are so many names going around that don’t make sense.”

Striker Patrick Cutrone has been linked with a move away, and Nuno said ‘we’ll see’ when asked if the striker will leave this month.

The boss added on the Italian: “Cutrone has had, I believe in the beginning of the season, five games in a row. He had a lot of moments.

"Every player needs to compete at the right moments, when we decide it is the right moment for him to compete.

“He’s our player. He’s here, he’s training with us. He is an option (for United).”
