Wolves fans are unconvinced by Arsenal rumours
Wolves fans have reacted with disbelief after boss Nuno Espirito Santo emerged as one of the bookmakers' favourites to become the next Arsenal manager.
It has sparked an outpouring of affection and respect for Nuno who has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners to replace Unai Emery.
The Porgueuse head coach refused to comment on the rumours before Wolves' Europa League Group K tie at Braga last night.
But many Wolves fans remain unconvinced that Nuno could soon be heading to the Emirates Stadium, saying they cannot imagine him walking out on the club which is sitting fifth in the Premier League.
One supporter posted on the Express & Star website: "Nuno is a wolf and he will go nowhere unless Fosun stop backing him to fulfil his dream here, I don’t think Fosun will do that as they seem to have the same dream."
Another fan said: "I love Nuno. He has re-established the link between the supporters and the club, sadly lost during the Morgan/Moxey era.
"However, in the real world of business there is no room for sentiment. Everything and everybody is for sale, if the price is right. Personally, I don't think Nuno will leave, especially half way through the season. Wolverhampton Wanderers are his project.
"He has hand picked his players to suit his methods. If Nuno leaves, it will initiate a domino effect, and Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Joao Moutinho, Rui Patricio, etc will follow. Fosun must keep Nuno, whatever the cost.
"It will be cheaper in the long term to pay Nuno what he's worth, than to let him go and have a new coach rebuild the team to suit his style of play. Wolves are in the ascendancy.
"A lot of the so called big clubs are either stagnating or in decline. The only way Nuno will leave Wolverhampton is if the Portuguese National team come knocking."
One supporter questioned whether he would be offered the same level of resources to repeat his success at Wolves if he did make the move.
"Not too many managers would turn down Arsenal if they came calling. I hope Nuno sees his project as a reason to stay.
"He will become a legend at wolves, not sure he will have the resources and the support at Arsenal to do the same there?"
Pinniacle Wolf posted on the Express & Star website: "He would be crazy to go there. Fickle fans with high expectations and a disfunctional team. He already has adoring fans, supportive owners, and a team and managerial support base he has picked and built up himself. No brainer. Dream on Arsenal."
While WolvesGuru said: "Nuno may be the favourite for the Arsenal job, even though there is no vacancy, but he is already a favourite at Wolves and going nowhere."
