Europa League: The low-down on Wolves' Portuguese opponents

Wolves face Braga in Portugal in their penultimate Europa League Group K match.

Here, we take a look at the hosts ahead of Thursday's game between the top two teams in the group.

European form

Braga have been in Europe in 15 of the last 16 seasons and reached the 2011 final, losing to rivals Porto 1-0 in Dublin.

They are are unbeaten in 11 European matches, winning eight, and have won seven out of eight this season. If they avoid defeat to Wolves they will set a new unbeaten record for a Portuguese club in Europe.

They are also without defeat in seven European home games, last losing 2-0 to Ludogorets in the 2017-18 Europa League.

Record against English teams

The last time Braga hosted English visitors was in 2012-13 when Manchester United won 3-1 with Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez scoring in the final 10 minutes.

They had previously beaten Liverpool, Portsmouth, Arsenal and Birmingham without conceding a goal at the Estadio Municipal.

Braga have won seven, drawn two and lost 10 of their 19 matches against English opposition.

Dangerman

Striker Paulinho has scored nine goals in 18 appearances in all competitions this season.

The former Portugal Under-21 international has averaged a goal every 130 minutes in the Primeira Liga this term.

He was in Portugal's provisional squad for last year's World Cup but did not make the final cut.

Manager

Ricardo Sa Pinto made 45 appearances for Portugal, scoring 10 goals, and played at Euro 96 and Euro 2000.

He spent the majority of his playing career with Sporting but also had a three-year spell at Real Sociedad.

He managed Sporting in 2012 and worked in Serbia, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Belgium and Poland before returning to Portugal in the summer, signing a two-year deal with Braga.

Domestic form

Braga are ninth in the Portuguese top flight with four wins, three draws and four defeats from their 11 games.

They have lost once in their last 10 games in all competitions domestically - last month's 2-0 defeat at Boavista.

Their only home league defeat this term came against Benfica, with the visitors running out 4-0 winners in September.
