Crystal Palace v Wolves: Three Eagles danger men
Wolves take on Crystal Palace, hoping to solve their mixed form to start the season.
Here, we highlight three danger men in the Eagles' ranks.
Wilfried Zaha
Wolves have struggled to contain tricky ebullient wingers recently, with Alex Iwobi and Richarlison abusing the back line in their game against Everton, and their stultifying performances over the past couple of weeks may portend a similar result.
Although he is yet to get off the mark this season for Crystal Palace, Wilfried Zaha will be confident of scoring his first goal against either a returning and ring rusty Matt Doherty, or Adama Traore, who is still adapting to the wing-back position.
Zaha was refused a move to both Arsenal and Everton over summer after Palace placed a astronomical price on his head after a panoply of exhilarating performances, including against Wolves at Molineux, while hitting a career best of ten goals and five assists in 34 Premier League games.
Undoubtedly Palace's main attacking threat, the Ivorian's brilliance is often impossible to staunch, and will surely be the protagonist of many of Nuno's pre-match preparations.
Jordan Ayew
Having joined Crystal Palace during the summer after a year on loan with the club, Jordan Ayew has certainly made himself at home in South London.
With two goals in four appearances for the club this season, against Manchester United and Aston Villa, Ayew is currently Palace's top scorer having displaced the discordant Christian Benteke and cemented himself in the starting eleven.
The Ghanaian has a good record against Wolves too, scoring against them in last years game at Molineux alongside the ostentatious goal he scored for Swansea against Wolves in the FA Cup in early 2018.
A haranguer and harrier, Ayew has the potential to greatly trouble Wolves' uncertain defence and condemn them to an unprecedented fourth defeat in a row.
Andros Townsend
Despite his modest record, Andros Townsend has been one of the pillars of the Crystal Palace front line over the past few years and has furtively gone about his business as a reliable and consistent performer.
Capable of the occasional Puskas worthy wonder strike alongside the ability to sashay his way through stagnant defences, Townsend will pose a palpable problem down Wolves' right side.
Only Zaha and Luka Milivojević scored more goals for Palace last season as he went on to bag nine goals in all competitions with four assists.
The temptation for Wolves may be to focus on the more obvious threats in Palace's line-up, but they would do so at their own risk with Townsend often being a puissant performer.
