Wolves U23s sign defender Flavio Cristovao
Wolves have signed Portuguese defender Flavio Cristovao, with the 22-year-old linking up with the club's U23 side.
Cristovao had featured for Wolves' youngsters throughout this pre-season, playing at centre back - and has impressed during his trial in the Black Country.
The youngster, who started his career in his native Portugal with Casa Pia, has signed a one-year deal at the club.
U23s coach Rob Edwards was delighted to welcome the promising youngster to Wolves:
"Flavio’s done well in the last few weeks with us, he’s got good experience for a 22-year-old, and we expect him to add a bit of steel to the group." Edwards said.
“Although he’s more of a defensive player, he’s someone who can handle the ball well, while his versatility is also something that has impressed us. He’s been playing at the middle of defence, but he can play anywhere across the back three, as well as being that holding player in centre midfield.
“He understands everything we are trying to do as he’s quite football intelligent, so we’re pleased with how he’s improving and feeling more comfortable every day. The Swansea match on Monday was probably his best game to date.
“Now we’ll be looking for him to work really hard. He’s got to try and play as much football as possible, because at 22 he’ll be looking at using this season to give him a springboard to first-team football."
