Wolves in China: Nathan Judah's tour diary - Day 8

Another decent sleep (although I did have a strange dream about Amanda Holden and cockroaches - don't ask), seven hours approximately.

So with a 4pm leave from out apartment for the Asia Trophy final - I finally had the chance to go for a run!

Many of you know from my previous Austria and Switzerland tour diaries that a good morning run was the staple to a productive day.

It's been frustrating not having an opening to go out this trip, but by the time I was half a mile sown the road, turning onto The Bund, I was wet through.

I managed a sluggish five miles before I had to call it a day.

I was completely soaked and in desperate need of water - how the players do it out here (some for 90 mins) is astonishing.

TS: To be fair I had a pretty tough morning as well. Those cups of coffee don't make themselves.

Traffic was pretty bad en-route to the stadium meaning our 15 min taxi was more like 45 mins.

Luckily taxis are incredibly cheap in Shanghai, so it still only cost us around £8.

This girl was an absolute star in the fan park

After we finally got out accreditation (long story) I wandered across to the fan park to interview the Wolves peeps on their experiences in China.

The fan park itself was cute - plenty of events, a small three-a-side game and fun areas for all four clubs to chill, have a drink and pick up a signed picture or two.

I also met a fabulous die hard Chinese Wolves fan called Yang, who originally lived in Wolverhampton and now resides in China.

He spoke with such passion an eloquence about the club - it was very touching. Watch out for that interview in the coming days.

Back in the humid stadium, Wolves weathered an early City storm (just call me Michael Fish) and grew into the game.

A couple of chances, but Rui Patricio was in incredible form to deny City in open play and then spot-kicks.

To beat Manchester City and win some silverware, whether it's pre-season or not, can only add to the incredible confidence and self-belief these players have.

The youngsters also did a phenomenal job - they will have grown up a lot on this tour and kudos to the academy for their ability to adapt to their surroundings so expertly.

TS: It was the perfect end to a week that has just about gone as well as it could from a football perspective.

Given the conditions, the weather, the travel, the hectic nature of a packed schedule, I'm not sure it could have gone better.

Certainly from the two matches, Wolves kept two clean sheets, beat two Premier League teams and won the games in two different manners, showcasing once again that they're certainly not a one-trick pony.

The fact it's pre-season must be taken into account - and form at this time of year often doesn't transform to the league - but hopefully in Wolves' case it will because at this stage of the summer they look in fine fettle.

We blagged our way through the tunnel to do a post-match video pitchside.

Otherwise we were looking at filming behind a concrete bollard outside and no one wants to see that.

Sneaking pitchside while quietly celebrating

I'm going to miss these vids with each person taking shots at the other while still trying to sound coherent and informative, but hey ho.

I ran back with the footage, was just about to upload and the buggers turned the wifi off - it cost me £40 to upload the edited video off my phone!

But I couldn't keep the peeps waiting.

We grabbed a taxi as soon as the file had exported and got to a bar called 'Cages' around 12.45am.

Bully was having a beer with fans at an organised event and it was also the Premier League wrap party with the media wanting to let their hair down after a busy week.

Free food, open bar - what more can you want? Unfortunately we missed both by five minutes.

Still it didn't matter, was lovely to chat to fans who had made the long trip.

And boy, have they got value for money!

Championeees, championeeeessss, ole ole ole!
