Shrewsbury Town sign Ethan Ebanks-Landell from Wolves
Shrewsbury Town have made Wolves defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell their first summer signing.
Boss Sam Ricketts is a former team-mate of the Black Country-born defender and has added him to his Montgomery Waters Meadow ranks.
He pens a three-year deal after moving from the Premier League club for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old was contracted at Wolves until the summer of 2021. He has had loan spells in the Football League at Sheffield United – where he heavily impressed – MK Dons and Rochdale.
Boss Ricketts believes to attract somebody with Ebanks-Landell's track record is a great acquisition for Town.
"Ethan is a player I've known for some time with a proving track record in this league with two promotions," said the boss.
"He's played a lot of games and has proven quality. It's a really great acquisition for the club especially on the length of contract we've got him on.
"For now and years to come he can be a backbone of the side."
Ebanks-Landell is Town's first signing of the summer and Ricketts added the defender comes into the building at the ideal age with sufficient experience but still a will to progress.
"We're trying to bring good quality into the building. It's better to not sign anyone than the wrong person," continued the Shrews boss.
"He's mid-twenties but has awful lot of experience. But he's still young in terms of his own career, to push on, grow and improve.
"We're fortunate to have him at the perfect age where he's experienced for young lads around him but I'm asking him to push, improve and kick on again."
