Wolves took a huge step towards securing seventh place in the Premier League by beating Fulham 1-0 courtesy of Leander Dendoncker's volley – extending the unbeaten run at home to 11 games in all competitions.

Leicester need to win against Manchester City on Monday to have any chance of leap-frogging Nuno's charges on the final day of the season next Sunday, but a European opportunity will only go to who finishes seventh if City beat Watford in the FA Cup final.

And Nuno said: "The FA Cup final still has to be played. It would be stupid to think about (the Europa League)."

Nuno saw Dendoncker break the deadlock in the 75th minute, delighting the vast majority of the 30,000-plus crowd.

The Wolves chief also received an honorary doctorate of sport from the University of Wolverhampton before the game and did a lap of honour with all the players after the match.

"It was a special day for everybody, special for the fans," said Nuno.

"It was our last game at home this season and Molineux has given us so, so much this season.

"They deserve nothing less than what we did. How we did it is important, and I think we played good. It was very, very good for us."

He added: "Every minute is important, but the home factor is definitely so, so important.

"We did it at home and Molineux was so behind the team.

"They have pushed us so much and helped us so much, so we cannot thank them enough."
