Nuno shares his pride over injury-free Wolves

Nuno Espirito Santo says his squad’s ability to follow instructions down to a tee is the driving force behind Wolves’ incredible lack of injuries.

No player has suffered a long-term injury since Nuno took over as boss almost two years ago.

The club’s medical team have earned plenty of praise for that, but the old gold chief pointed out his charges are the ones who have to put advice into practice.

“The medical staff have been fantastic,” said Nuno, who has a full quota of players to pick from as Wolves look to move close to securing seventh place in the Premier League by beating Fulham today.

“They’ve been a massive help, since the beginning of the season.

“But I insist the credit must go to the players because they are the ones who have committed themselves to all the things that have been recommended to them.

“It’s about each and every one of us giving the best of ourselves and our abilities.

“It’s about that belief, respecting your body as it’s your tool.

“You have to respect yourself – rest well, eat well and then work well.

“You have to follow the advice of the medical team and coaches, so the credit is for the players.

“Those who are not able to (listen to advice), they will have problems.”

Nuno knows Wolves have had a bit of luck on their side when it comes to injuries along the way too.

When asked if they do anything specific to keep them at bay, Nuno added: “Do you see magic powers around?

“There’s no such thing. It’s commitment.

“The credit is for the players, and, after that, it’s luck.

“With (potential) concussions, there have been 12 moments where a doctor has gone in to assist a player with a direct knock to the head, but fortunately (there were no concussions, and) it was cuts, these sorts of things.

“Football is a game of contact. If there is a game, there is a risk.”
