Wolves' Diogo Jota ready to take Wembley by storm
Diogo Jota says he’s in the form of his life – and he can’t wait to take that into Sunday’s Wembley semi-final.
The Portuguese forward netted his sixth goal in his last six Molineux appearances to help Wolves beat Manchester United 2-1 on Tuesday.
The result set Wolves up perfectly for their showdown with Watford as they try to reach the club’s first FA Cup final in 59 years.
And Jota, who was injured for Wolves’ 3-1 win at Wembley against Spurs in December, said: “I am looking forward to it, it will be my first time.
“I know it is one of the famous grounds here in England so of course I wanted to play there but I know it is just one more game.
“(The United win) was a good game to get us ready. Our performance was very good, I think it was a good boost for Sunday.
“The first step to achieve something is to believe. It is the first step
“We understand what it means to our fans to reach the last stages of one of the oldest competitions in the world and we are looking forward to that, to try to reach the final.”
Jota has struck up a telepathic partnership with Raul Jimenez, with the pair netting Wolves’ past seven goals in all competitions.
When asked if he was in the form of his career, Jota said: “Yes of course, playing here in the best league in the world, I am trying to do my best and of course here is where the big players are.
“(Myself and Raul) are understanding each other well, which is good for each other and the team, but we know without the contribution of the other players that nothing is possible.”
Jota was regularly fouled against United, including twice by Ashley Young who was booked on both occasions and earned a red card.
“I am OK,” Jota said. “The way I play, it requires the opponent to be strong and sometimes they foul me but I don’t think there was a problem on Tuesday.”
