Wolves boss Nuno speaks about Jorge Mendes guidance

Nuno Espirito Santo has spoken of super agent Jorge Mendes’ role in his decision to take on the ‘exciting’ opportunity at Wolves.

Nuno joined Wolves in the summer of 2017 and has never looked back, steering them to the Championship title last term and then the FA Cup semi-finals this season.

And on deciding with Mendes, his agent, his future lay at Molineux, Nuno told ESPN Brasil: “He was the person who at the time decided with me, after much conversation, that the best step would be to come, to start working at Wolves.

“The project, as it was presented in an exciting way, was a challenge, a great challenge.

"He is my friend. A person I admire a lot. He’s the best agent in the world.”

Nuno was also asked about his ambitions for the club and said: “We think it’s a very difficult competitive space. Very difficult. But we are inserted in it. And what I believe is that the better we are prepared to compete, the better results we will have.

“Therefore, ambition of the club. And if you ask me my ambition, it’s the next training, the next game, then the next training, day by day, day by day.”

And on his goals as a manager, Nuno added: “Improve players. Improve. Make the player better.

“Because we know that if the player is better, the team will be better.

“So improve the player. Look at the player, keep him in the middle of us, and see at all points what we can make him better.”
