Wolves legend Steve Bull: Let's not expect too much, too soon
Falling victim to a Huddersfield double is not what we wanted, but let’s not dwell on it too much.
We were disappointingly flat as we lost 1-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium, so let’s hope it was a one-off and complacency does not creep in now we have reached that 40-point mark.
Reaching 40 points so early on in the season is obviously a bonus but, as players, it does not mean a great deal as you are told to give 100 per cent in every single game you play.
And Nuno will be making sure he gets that message across ahead of hosting Cardiff on Saturday.
We only had a few anywhere near their usual standards against the Terriers and others maybe turn up thinking it was going to be easy but, fair play to the hosts, they did a good job. We just weren’t at the races.
But while we didn’t manage to beat Bournemouth last weekend, I was pleased with the fight shown at Dean Court to grab a point amidst a questionable refereeing display.
The one thing I would have liked in that game was for us to be more clinical as we had the chances to get the victory but, overall, we played some nice football and there were several positives to take out of it.
I saw a fair bit of negativity after the Huddersfield game and fans always have the right to voice their opinion, but let’s be careful not to expect too much.
It is easy to forget this is our first season back in the big time and we are still firmly in the top half, while also having a massive FA Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester United to look forward to.
The beauty of football is you usually have a chance to soon put things right, so I can’t wait for us to take on the Bluebirds!
