Wolves legend Steve Bull: Three games that should cement our league spot
After the excitement of the FA Cup it’s back to Premier League action today for the first of three winnable games in a week.
On Tuesday, we can put a nail in Huddersfield’s relegation coffin and then next Saturday struggling Cardiff City come to Molineux.
First though it’s a long trip to Bournemouth today for what is a difficult but winnable match.
It was tough against the Cherries at our place in December – we had to work really hard for that one and sealed it right at the end when Ivan Cavaleiro got a late second goal.
They’ve got a decent home record and thumped Chelsea there recently, but we’re on a great run of form and will go there full of confidence.
Callum Wilson is out injured which is a positive but they’ve got a few dangerous players.
I’d take a point, especially if we can follow that up with wins over Huddersfield and Cardiff and really cement our position in the table ahead of that massive FA Cup match next month.
If Diogo Jota is fit then the team pretty much picks itself tomorrow – the first XI is set in stone at the moment.
I absolutely love the consistency Wolves have produced lately. It’s seven games unbeaten, when he makes changes the players who come in play well – pretty much everyone in the squad is performing and it’s great to see.
All the senior players know they’re going to be involved in every squad. I’d be very worried if we picked up a few injuries but fingers crossed we won’t.
Another topic on the agenda this week has been the expansion of Molineux and I’m shocked to hear my stand could be the first to be bulldozed!
It’s great news that the club are looking to expand the stadium. We’re selling out every week at the moment and with the ambitions the club have we’ll need more seats for the extra demand.
The main thing is to stay at Molineux. The way they did the Stan Cullis stand was perfect and, while they could easily build a 60,000-seat stadium, they’ve got to be careful as we want it full every week.
The atmosphere at the moment is a big part of making Molineux a fortress so that’s got to stay.
