Romain Saiss targeting European stage with Wolves
Romain Saiss believes Wolves could have a future on the European stage, after agreeing a new deal with the club.
The Moroccan international has penned a new deal until 2021, and believes that Wolves could look forward to Europa League or Champions League football in the future.
Upon signing his new deal, the 28-year-old admitted that the future at Molineux is a bright one, insisting that European football could be on the agenda in the not too distant future.
"In the future, maybe playing European football with my club, maybe Champions League, Europa League, and win the African Cup with my country – that would be perfect." he said.
"I’m very happy now because I’ve done a lot of things since I started football. I thank God for what he has given me and if he can give me more I will take it.
“I’m very happy and I hope we can do something great with this club because we have a fantastic team and very good fans, so everything is here to do something great, now we have to do it.”
Saiss joins captain Conor Coady and wing-back Matt Doherty in committing his future to Wolves in recent weeks - and wants to continue his role at Molineux which he believes involves bringing experience and a smile to the locker room.
"I try to help the young players because now I have a little but more experience with the club and in international football with my country." he said.
"I just want to keep the smile on my face every day, because we are lucky to play football and have a chance to play football in England, in the best league, so we have to think about that and realise that even though it’s hard sometimes, because not every player can play or they are injured, that we are lucky to be footballers.
“When we go to the hospital to see the children with problems, we must understand that we are lucky even if we don’t play or are injured.
“I try to always smile and joke with everybody because it’s better to train with a smile than with a bad face – that’s my role.”
