Wolves boss Nuno tells Adama Traore to keep on running

Nuno Espirito Santo has urged Wolves’ record buy Adama Traore to make even more use of his frightening speed and strength.

Traore, who cost £18million, made the most of his brief cameo on Monday, crossing to Willy Boly to seal a 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

The 23-year-old’s direct approach has caused problems over the past few weeks – and Nuno wants to see him carry it on, to greater effect.

“It’s one of the things that he can do,” he said.

“It’s one of the characteristics that he can do.

“It’s about the squad, the team. You try to have weapons for different situations, different solutions, and Adama has this characteristic.

“His one-v-one is strong, but he must improve and try to take advantage more times.”

Spanish winger Traore has made 21 appearances in the Premier League, in which Wolves are seventh, since joining the club from Middlesbrough last summer, and 15 of those have come as a substitute.

He has made four starts in the cups – two in League Cup, two in the FA Cup.

Old gold chief Nuno was pleased with what he saw from the former Villa man against the Magpies.

“He came on and he tried to help the team,” said Nuno.

“It’s one of the things he must do. Every time we put on a player it’s to create an impact on the game.

“They must bring energy and after he came on, the game arrived.”

Meanwhile, Nuno says Wolves will look to go abroad for another training camp as soon as possible.

They spent last week in Marbella – Wednesday to Sunday – doing intensive work while bonding further as a group.

Wolves went to Marbella last season as well and it helped reinvigorate their Championship promotion push.

“Every time there is a chance to do it,” said Nuno, when asked if they would like to do warm-weather training again.

“When the schedule allows you to do it, you do it.

“I think it was good. We trained and worked hard, spent time together.

“And we have to take the benefits in front of us, for the next one, Bristol (City, in the FA Cup on Sunday).”

Wolves were not the only side who were put through their paces at the Marbella Football Center last week.

Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow were also there ahead of the resumption of their season on Saturday, March 2.
