Bully: This Wolves team just won’t lie down

We are on 39 points after the 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Monday – a game which I feel demonstrated the progress we have made over the course of the season.

Earlier on in the campaign, we saw Watford and Huddersfield come to Molineux in an effort to frustrate us, and each leave with 2-0 victories.

And Rafa Benitez’s Magpies went for a similar approach and struck first, but we kept plugging away to pick up – on the balance of play – a more than deserved point.

I thought it was a good game. We dominated large parts of it.

Newcastle probably had a 15-20 minute spell where they were on top, but we controlled the rest of it.

Benitez was not happy with Willy Boly’s equaliser and how it came in the fifth minute of added-on time when a minimum of four was allocated.

But they took 45 seconds to make a substitution in stoppage time, trying to run down the clock, so it was their own fault.

That desire to keep going right until the whistle is great to see.

Supporters who used to leave after 85 minutes will stay to the very end now!

They have the effort to match the quality, and that is a recipe for success.

They are a fit bunch and the backroom team deserve credit – the sports scientists and nutritionists – for keeping them in such tip-top shape.

Adama Traore got the assist and, fair play to him, he is our super-sub at the moment.,

Whether he comes on for five minutes or half-an-hour, he tends to make an impact.

Of course, it would be nice to see the record signing starting more games – but it is a squad game these days.

You don’t necessarily have to play every minute of every game now.

Nuno knows how to treat them all, and is getting the best out of them.

Using Traore in short bursts has been working a treat.
