Leander Dendoncker admits Wolves doubts
Leander Dendoncker has admitted he had thought about leaving Wolves during his prolonged spell on the sidelines.
The Belgium international, who is at Molineux on loan for the season from Anderlecht ahead of a permanent £12million switch in the summer, only played nine minutes of Premier League football before Christmas.
He's since come into the side and made a big impact in midfield, starting Wolves' past three games.
But he told Belgian newspaper HLN: "I can not deny that the beginning was difficult. Of course I have thought about a departure.
"Mentally it was difficult. Recharge yourself to train harder the next day than the players who were (in the team). You automatically think of that. I had not come here to avoid the selection.
"I try to give the best of myself – and will continue to do my thing. I tried to get ready for the moment that I would get my chance. Just work, do not talk too much. That's how I sit. Silently doing my best on training.
"Anyway, it is good that I am finally part of the group, of the team. I'm enjoying it.
"The last few weeks things are going better."
Dendoncker began the campaign as a right-sided centre-half, lining up there in training and also for two Carabao Cup games against Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester.
A switch to midfield has given him his chance in the XI as part of a three-man midfield alongside Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.
"In the beginning I mostly played on the right in a three-man defence," Dendoncker added.
"The last few weeks they have pushed me to the midfield. Not easy, but you have to be able to make the switch.
"The (Premier League) level is much higher than in Belgium."
