Wolves’ front two of Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota have been hailed as ‘sensational’ by captain Conor Coady.

Jota bagged Wolves’ first top-flight hat-trick since 1977 during a dramatic 4-3 victory over Leicester City on Saturday.

Jimenez set up Jota’s last-gasp winner, providing a sixth assist of the season to add to his seven goals.

And Coady said: “The two front boys are incredible, they’re fantastic players.

“You look at the way they move the ball, the way they drag Leicester’s defenders around, they’re sensational.

“They were a real pleasure to watch.

“What Jota’s done this year and how he’s come to the fore, he’s scored a Premier League hat-trick, he deserves it.

“We’re most happy about Jota because of what he’s done for the team.

“We know how good he is and what he’ll bring.

“Not just goals – his work-rate and his running off the ball. He gives everything for this football club.

“He’s so strong, you look at him coming up against Wes Morgan, a top Premier League centre-half, he’s held him off, he’s strong, he holds the ball up, he turns, he runs, he’s so strong for a little fella.” A madcap afternoon saw seven goals scored in a game at Molineux for just the third time in the past four years.

“It was pure and utter relief at full time,” Coady added.

“You can understand the elation after a winner like that.

“The most important thing was winning – we’ve not been good enough at home recently.

“There are ways of winning, we need to look at where we went wrong.

“It was a hard game.

“We were really good in the first half – we played in their half and pressed really well.

“There aren’t many games like that.

“We’ve scored late quite often this season as well, Newcastle, West Ham and the feeling is unbelievable.”

Meanwhile, young Wolves keeper Andreas Sondergaard is said to be making ‘great progress’ after signing a new two-and-a-half year contract.

The Danish teenager turned 18 this week and penned the longer-term deal.

He spent time with the first-team during a pre-season trip to Switzerland in July and has impressed for the under-23s this season.

Wolves academy chief Scott Sellars said: “He has played great for the under-23s for almost a year now.

“We think he’s got a lot of potential, which we saw playing for the national team with Denmark, and he suits how we want to play. He’s very good with his feet and technically he’s as good as anyone I’ve seen for a long time in terms of his distribution.”
