Wolves boss Nuno: Big improvements needed from last Spurs meeting

Nuno Espirito Santo has warned that Wolves need to be 'much better' than in their last game against Spurs if they're to earn a result at Wembley tomorrow.

Wolves make their first trip to the home of English football since 1988 to face a Spurs team that's scored 11 goals in their last two matches.

Nuno's team lost 3-2 to the North London side in November. They were 3-0 down after 61 minutes but mounted a spirited comeback with two penalties.

Nuno, speaking at today's pre-match press conference, said: "We have to be much better, mainly in our defensive organisation.

"We were 3-0 down, it's hard to get back in the game with that difference in the score.

"We have to be better. We'll have to play very well, at the same time we have to be focused knowing the quality of the opponent.

"Any distraction can really punish you. We have to be 100 per cent.

"Tottenham are in a very good moment, 11 goals in two matches in a busy schedule, they're doing very well, that shows the quality of the squad, the work, the management.

"It's going to be a hard game, very tough."

When asked if his team would fear Spurs, Nuno replied: "All teams we have to fear, to respect, knowing that the opponent has quality.

"We go to play, to compete, realise what we have to do, have a game plan and play the game."

It was put to Nuno that his team have struggled against sides from lower down the league that look to frustrate Wolves.

However he retorted: "With all my respect I think this is a cliché. There are no teams that change too much.

"Each team, each manager has his own idea and his own thinking of the game.

"If you have less of the ball it doesn't mean you don't want to win. It's a different way of competing and playing the game.

"What you're saying, I totally disagree."

Nuno also played down the imminent transfer window, saying Wolves' focus was all on the Spurs game but that "we're working, with attention to it – we know what we have to do".

And he also revealed that Portuguese forward Diogo Jota won't travel to Wembley.

"Diogo is not 100 per cent yet, he's not an option."
