Peter Davies, aged in his 70s, claims he designed the badge when he was a schoolboy.

He wants to take Wolves to court and seek compensation.

According to the BBC, lawyers say both sides have agreed that a trial should take place and it will likely happen next year.

Wolves disagree with Mr Davies’ claim and say it should be thrown out.

Mr Davies lives in Stourport but was originally from Wolverhampton.

He claims he drew the logo at school during the 1960s and entered it into an art competition.

It was based on a mathematical design.

Then in 1979, he recognised the drawing on the club’s new kit.

This is not the first time the Wolves logo has hit headlines in recent years over copyright claims.

In 2016, Wolves were in dispute with beer company BrewDog over its then new logo, which was similarly designed to the Wolves badge.

Wolves were going to launch legal action but the company has kept its logo.
