Rui Patricio

Pretty much had nothing to do except pick the ball out the back of the net. Couldn't be blamed for the goal, which goes down as an excellent Glenn Murray finish, albeit he had the space to do so. 6/10

Ryan Bennett

Another solid performance from the centre half. Wolves may have lost for the second week in a row but their defenders only allowed Brighton one shot on target. Bennett was dependable and made a couple of important clearances. 7/10

Conor Coady

Arguably should have been closer to Murray for the goal but the ball was fired in quickly and there was little he could do about it. Produced a couple of superb passes in the first half, including one which sent Doherty flying down the right. Swept up on a couple of occasions but otherwise he had a pretty quiet afternoon. Very rarely gave the ball away. 7/10

Willy Boly

Another good performance from the Frenchman who brought the ball out from the back with aplomb and exuded calmness. Also got forward to good effect on a couple of occasions – thrashing a 25-yarder wide via a deflection and he also looked to be impeded in the box at one point. Boly has visibly grown in stature and comfort in past month or so and looks every inch a Premier League defender. 8/10

Matt Doherty

Maintained his excellent form with another standout display. Was at the heart of almost everything positive that Wolves did in the final third – constantly made himself an outlet and regularly got to the byline, in behind Gaeten Bong who had an afternoon to forget. By his own admission he should have scored when he side-footed just past the post. Also placed a shot into the side netting and saw a long-range effort well saved. Absolutely full to the brim of confidence and his attacking intentions were incessant. A player at the top of his game. 8/10

Joao Moutinho

Didn't enjoy himself against Watford last weekend but he was more productive here, playing the most key passes on the field (five) and registering a 90 per cent pass accuracy. Set pieces were generally on the money, too. 7/10

Ruben Neves

Did his best to inspire Wolves with six shots at goal. The next highest on the pitch was Jimenez with three. It didn't quite happen for him in that regard (a top-corner-bound free kick was deflected over) but in terms of moving the ball briskly to the flanks and giving protection to the back three, he did absolutely fine. 7/10

Jonny Castro Otto

Did ok defensively but you wanted a bit more from him in an attacking sense, particularly in the closing stages when Brighton were sitting so deep. Popped up in the box on a couple of occasions and the effort and work rate were certainly there, but nothing really came off. 6/10

Helder Costa

Bright and breezy for the most part, but still lacking those magic moments that Wolves need in the final third. Was a good outlet in the second half and swung over some decent crosses, but Wolves needed more. 6/10

Raul Jimenez

Some nice link-up play in the first half, especially when he repeated his trick at Crystal Palace to feed Doherty for a great chance via a one-two. A couple of sights of goal but paid for a slow start after the break when he was substituted. Not his day 5/10

Adama Traore

Finally handed his first start for Wolves, unleashed from the off by Nuno, his big opportunity...but Traore didn't quite take it. There were a couple of flashes of his genius when he exploded down the flank and he came up with a decent effort from range after cutting inside. He's got to do more to stop Bruno getting the initial shot away for the goal. Like Jimenez he lacked that spark when it really mattered and was subbed. Plenty more to come from him, but he's not fitting in how Nuno would like him to yet. 5/10

Substitutes

Ivan Cavaleiro (for Jimenez, 61)

Played centrally after replacing Jimenez and looked pretty lively, but was soon crowded out by the disciplined Brighton defence and struggled to make a big impact. Some nice touches though. He may start next week with Traore having not impressed. 6/10

Diogo Jota (for Traore, 61)

Dropped to the bench for the first time this season. Almost got the goal he craves when showing great feet in the box and getting a shot away, but it was saved. 6/10

Leo Bonatini (for Otto, 84)

Thrown on for the final minutes but didn't do anything of note. N/A

Subs not used: Ruddy, Dendoncker, Vinagre, Gibbs-White.
