Glenn Murray struck for the Seagulls as they inflicted a second straight defeat on Nuno Espirito Santo's men.

Wolves had Ryan Bennett denied by a superb Matthew Ryan reaction save right at the death, with Matt Doherty, Ruben Neves and substitute Diogo Jota also going close.

"They'll be very fine. They're a good team," said Hughton.

"What's happening to them at the moment – losing against Watford and then today – is just normal stuff in the Premier League, up against a different level team.

"On probably more occasions than not, their performance today would have got them a victory.

"They are a good side, very well-drilled with good players. They'll be more than fine."

Hughton would have liked an easier victory but, ultimately, is delighted to have won three in a row.

"The focus is on winning three on the spin – which, for a club like ourselves, is very difficult to do – more so than the performance," he added.

"We can certainly play better. In the last two weeks, we've certainly had to rely on determination, the team spirit and players defending very well.

"I was pleased as, with all their play, we still limited them from having that clear-cut chance.

"They had a lot of half-chances, a lot of shots on target.

"We had to defend very well. It would be nice to have a more comfortable victory but, at this level, a victory is a victory."
