Steve Bull: Wolves have strength from bench

It was brilliant to see Ivan Cavaleiro announce his Premier League arrival in style by scoring with his first touch. That is a rare feat indeed.

It was not very often I did that because I was hardly on the bench! But to have scored with his first touch must have given him great delight.

The fact he made such a quick impact shows Nuno has got strong options from the bench, which we need in the Premier League.

Cavaleiro is a talented young lad. He didn’t panic, he just wanted to hit the ball. He’s been out for a couple of months after being injured it will take him a few games to get back up to speed.

And speaking of speed – how about Traore? He is another dangerous attacking option from the bench. Traore is a very skilful footballer and, combined with his ferocious pace, poses such a threat for Wolves going forward.

We saw him utilise these skills to set up for the first goal against Southampton. Bravo to Nuno for making those tactical changes.

It was a great atmosphere once again at Molineux on Saturday, which really helps the players. The roars from the crowd after both goals went in was immense.

I thought it was a good performance overall against the Saints. We were better in the first 30 minutes, but I felt Southampton started more strongly in the second half. However, we rode the pressure that they began piling on us and we killed the game off in the final 15 minutes. After the game, Mark Hughes said he felt his Southampton dominated Wolves – but in my eyes, and I’m not being biased, I felt we dominated overall and put away our chances as well which is the crucial factor. But what Hughes said is the sort of talk managers say after games like that to pick their players up.

On to Crystal Palace now and, you know what, I think this will be one of our toughest games of the season. I thought United and City would be but Palace will be down there in the table scrapping for their lives. They are a half decent side and they will give us a good run for our money.
