The 18-year-old was handed his senior bow in Wolves' 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Sheffield Wednesday last night.

The Scottish Under-21 international impressed in central midfield, playing the first hour before being replaced by fellow debutant Pedro Goncalves.

The new boys earned praise from boss Nuno Espirito Santo after the victory.

And Watt said: "I can't put it into words, it's unbelievable. It's something I did not expect but as soon as I found out I was playing I couldn't wait. And then when it came to end I didn't want it to end!

"I was nervous on the morning, I woke up and I couldn't stop thinking about the game. As soon as I was around the boys everyone made me relax and the nerves started to ease.

"When the warm up started the nerves dropped again and I just wanted the game to start.

"We worked on team shape on Monday and they set up the team so I kind of found out then but it wasn't for definite. When we were training I was keeping my fingers crossed that was the actual team and I was starting, then the team got announced. When I found out I just couldn't wait.

"You try not to treat it as a different game but it is different. There were so many fans and there's so much expectation at a big club like Wolves."

Watt had featured for Nuno's first team in pre-season, facing the likes of Basel, Ajax, Young Boys and Real Betis and joining the squad on tour in Switzerland.

He'd also earned his first call up for Scotland Under-21s earlier in the summer, playing in the acclaimed Toulon Tournament.

Watt hopes last night's debut is the first of many appearances for Wolves.

"Playing against big teams in pre-season helped," Watt, who was playing for the under-18s this time last year, added. "We had a game against Real Betis and were on the back foot for 45 minutes, it couldn't prepare you any better for a game like this.

"Pre-season was fantastic and to make my full debut was just as unbelievable.

"The senior boys in the team made me feel relaxed. Romain (Saiss), Conor (Coady), they were great for me and big John (Ruddy) in goal, they have words with you every time they can to help ease you through the game and showing they have faith in you.

"For the gaffer to show he has belief and to throw us in at the deep end at Sheffield Wednesday, at such a big ground against quality players, it's unbelievable to know he has that trust in us.

"Playing for the first team was definitely not what I was expecting this season. Hopefully there are more will come, I've just got to keep working hard every day and try and impress the gaffer to show he can trust me, like he did tonight."
