Manchester City star Vincent Kompany says Wolves can help their title bid
Vincent Kompany thinks Wolves can do Manchester City a favour this season – by taking points from their title rivals.
Nuno Espirito Santo's team held reigning champions City to a 1-1 draw at Molineux on Saturday.
Belgium international Kompany has lifted the Premier League title on three occasions, so knows a decent top flight outfit when he sees one.
And the 32-year-old said: "I'm confident they will take points off our competitors.
"I'm convinced they will (surprise a few teams) – they don't behave or play like a Championship team that has just been promoted.
"They are the typical type of team who is geared up to get big scalps because they have enough quality to play themselves out of situations when they are under pressure.
"The other thing is their key players work hard and that's always a good mix."
Wolves took the game to City and created a number of chances in what was anything but a 'park the bus' performance.
Kompany added: "That is what I enjoy about the Premier League, I don't think any one team plays the same as the other. Wolves have their own style and beliefs and this was a tough and competitive game.
"Of course the result is frustrating because there was a handball for the goal and there were a few decisions that could have been different.
"But we still have to get some sort of satisfaction that we got ourselves back into such a tough game and ultimately created a lot of chances."
"I couldn't ask for more from our team. We dominated possession, we created a lot of chances and defended the box. We tried to press high as we always do. We just got done by a handball. But taking no credit away from the Wolves performance because ultimately if they get points off our competition this will be a good point."
