BT Sport defends Steve McManaman over Wolves comment saying it was 'taken out of context'
BT Sport have defended Steve McManaman after he was caught on air saying 'I don't like Wolves', saying the comment was taken out of context.
McManaman was heard making the comment during a BT Sport broadcast of Wolves' and Everton's game at Molineux on Saturday, which ended 2-2.
However after being contacted by the Express & Star, the broadcaster issued a statement clarifying the incident.
The statement said: "BT Sport broadcast a very small part of an off-air conversation before realising the error and switching the microphone off. As a result viewers heard a very small part of a much longer comment on the match and this has been taken out of context."
A BT Sport spokesman added that McManaman was not saying he didn't like Wolves, but was discussing the game and viewers only heard a small part of a conversation.
The comment provoked a backlash from Wolves fans who took to social media to air their grievances.
