The 21-year-old Ukrainian international was booked in for a medical at Compton Park this morning and Wolves were hopeful of signing him from Premier League champions Manchester City.

However left-sided youngster Zinchenko, who also plays in central midfield, has rejected the move.

He had wavered all summer on the switch, despite not appearing to be part of City's first team plans.

He said last month: "Everyone dreams of playing here, and that goes for me as well.

"I try to learn every single day and I’m going to fight here.

"I’m ready for everything because I have to be professional. You don’t know what can happen in the future, but I’m dreaming of staying here.

"Everyone wants to be part of this team."

Wolves should still complete a £12million move for Belgian defensive midfielder/centre half Leander Dendoncker today.

He was at Compton last night to undergo a medical.
