'Legend' Joao Moutinho will make a big difference at Wolves
Joao Moutinho is a 'legend' whose experience will prove invaluable to Wolves this season, his new team mates believe.
The 31-year-old made his first appearance in Wolves colours during Saturday's 2-1 friendly defeat to Championship side Derby County.
Moutinho is third on the all-time list of Portugal cap holders behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Figo.
Diogo Jota said he used to watch Moutinho play for Portugal when he was younger and can't wait to now feature alongside him this season.
"It's a great signing, he's a legend," Jota said. "I always watched him when I was younger on my television.
"Now I play alongside him – it's fantastic for me and all of us and of course he will help the team reach our goals.
Conor Coady said Moutinho's quality was obvious from his first training session with the club.
"He's not bad is he?" Coady joked. "He's a player, it's an absolute pleasure to have him here, it really is.
"It shows where the club and the owner want to go. To get the chance to play with someone like that, train with him and learn from his experience is invaluable within the team.
"We're quite young as a team, we haven't got many like him, so to get him in the squad is fantastic and you see that quality straight away.
"He's only tiny! He's got a low centre of gravity, he plays lovely, get on the ball and moves it.
"We all know how good he is – you're always alright when you third-highest cap winner of all time for Portugal.
"He's a top player "
Wolves' defeat at Pride Park was their first reverse during their pre-season friendly campaign, which has seen them take on Basel, Young Boys, Ajax, Bochum, Real Betis and Stoke City.
They face Spanish side Villarreal at Molineux on Saturday before kicking off their highly-anticipated Premier League campaign against Everton a week later.
Coady isn't too concerned with results at this stage.
"These are the games that get you up to speed," the centre half added.
"We're looking forward to it, we need to get fitter and fitter and keep improving as much as possible because there are always aspects you can improve on.
"It's always good to be winning games and we're disappointed when we don't."
Jota added: "Preparations are going well, we're doing the things well, we're not expecting to win these pre-season games but to get fit and ready for the Premier League."
