Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was all smiles as he caught up with captain Danny Batth and former teammate George Elokobi.
The popular player, who revealed last month he was in remission a year on from his leukaemia diagnosis which stunned Wolves supporters, looked in good health as he posed alongside the pair.
Brierley Hill-born defender Batth told his Twitter followers of his meet with friend and teammate Ikeme.
It was a chance for Batth to catch up with his friend and teammate and see the progress he is making as he continues his battle back to health. The pair have been mainstays of the Wolves side in recent seasons.
Batth said on Twitter: “Big catch up with the main man @Carl_Ikeme yesterday! So proud of this guy & the progress he is making. Hours & hours of convo to catch up on.
“Topped off by bumping into @georgeelokobi coffees don’t come much better.”
Ikeme was inundated with messages of support after revealing he was in remission after 12 months of intense treatment.
The 32-year-old keeper was forced to miss the whole of Wolves’ promotion-winning season and a chance to go to the World Cup in Russia with Nigeria, but they made him an ‘honorary member’ of their squad.
He said he still had ‘hurdles to get over to be cured’ but was hopeful of getting back to ‘some normality’.
Ikeme made his first public appearance since his diagnosis earlier this month when he opened a new chemotherapy unit at Solihull Hospital.
He was there as a thanks to his friend and former consultant Manos Nikolousis, who first diagnosed him with leukaemia last year.
The Wolves goalkeeper received treatment at sister hospital Heartlands before being cared for at a clinic in Manchester.
The shock diagnosis last summer prompted an outpouring of emotion from Wolves supporters and beyond. Several charitable ventures organised by Wolves fans and friends of the keeper have raised more than £120,000 for Cure Leukaemia.
