Saturday's 4-0 victory over Swiss champions Young Boys saw Nuno Espirito Santo's team win some pre-season silverware in the form of the Uhrencup.

And Batth said on and off the field it was a successful week for Wolves.

"I think (it's the best I've been on) in terms of the organisation and the standard of opposition – it's been brilliant," he said.

"It was been a great trip and the lads enjoyed it.

"It was eight days away from family and friends but at this time of year it's important to get that team ethos.

"The facilities at the hotel were second to none, the staff and food, everything was catered for and I think it'll stand us in good stead.

"There's still a lot of hard work to do when we get back to Compton and everyone understands that.

"It was a good start and we'll try and build on it.

"Hopefully by the time we get back to training it'll be a new-look Compton Park as well, there's been a lot of work going on.

"We'll see our families and friends and dust ourselves down and get ready for another tough week."

The games come thick and fast for Wolves from now on with a clash against Ajax this Thursday afternoon at the Banks's Stadium followed by a one-day trip to Germany on Sunday for two 45-minute matches in the H-Hotels Cup.

Several young players got the chance to impress out in Switzerland and captain Batth thinks they acquitted themselves well.

"It was great experience for the young lads as well, I think they've been first class since they've joined in with us," he added.

"All six made a contribution and they've done the academy justice as well.

"It's not often Premier League teams give opportunities like that to youngsters.

"I'm sure Nuno and the staff are fully aware of what they can do from the recommendations of the academy and getting to know them as people will help them.

"As a group I still think we've got a way to go to the levels we were were at the end of last season.

"We've got to dig deep and make sure we jump off that cloud we were on at the end of last season and roll our sleeves up.

"We take the positives from the trip and keep learning."
