The squad returned to Compton Park last week after seven weeks off and are now preparing for a pre-season friendly campaign that kicks off next Tuesday against Basel.

"The boys appear (to be) very well," Silva said. "In the first day they arrived they appeared well – they worked in the break to arrive here fit.

"In pre-season (last year) we built the base, some foundations. We're going to keep that base and try to improve now on that base, that's what we expect from this pre-season.

"Let's take advantage of that base and improve new ideas from that.

"We take our time. We'll ensure we're going to be prepared.

"The first sensation is it's very good to be back again.

"In the first year the job was done, the challenge to put the club in the Premier League, that feeling is good.

"Now a different challenge, we keep the same identity and we'll try to do a good job in the Premier League."

Wolves won 30 of their 46 matches last season as they lifted the Championship title, earning 99 points.

No one is under any illusions that they'll win a similar percentage of their Premier League fixtures – but Silva says they will approach the division with the same mentality.

"We're to going into every game to win," he added.

"It doesn't matter which team we're going to face, we just look our team and say let's win this game. That's what's going to happen next year, go to each game to win and fight to win every game.

"It was a very tough year because we fight in every game to win, all the games are not easy games. Each team gave us a different challenge so at the end of the year all of us felt very tired so we needed that break to rest and come back now with energy to start again.

"It's our way to live - each game is to win and to fight until the end. Some people saw our celebrations...it is not our intention to provoke anything in the opponents. It's just the way we live the moment."
