Wolves, Albion, Villa or Walsall...Which West Midlands club has the best home record?
Molineux has been the strongest footballing fortress in the West Midlands for the past decade, according to new research.
Analysis from Your-Promotional-Code.co.uk, which looked at every home fixture for the current 92 Premier League and EFL teams since the start of the 2008/09 season, has shown that Wolves' turf is by far the hardest to win three points from in the West Midlands.
However, despite being the best in the local area, the club sit a fairly mediocre 41st of all the teams analysed in the study.
Championship strugglers Birmingham City come up with the silver medal, one place ahead of Walsall and 10 ahead of Aston Villa, who nip in just ahead of West Brom.
Before the 2017/18 campaign Wolves had endured a poor home record for a couple of seasons and they spent three years in the Premier League during the 10 years in question.
Wolves boast a 46 per cent win rate at Molineux over the last decade, winning 99 games from a total of 217, averaging 1.61 points per game. Their goal difference is +61 goal - part in thanks to their terrific title-winning campaign last time around in which they won 30 games and lost just seven.
Blues follow them up with an average of 1.48 points per game at St. Andrew's, putting them one place above League One side Walsall.
The Saddlers sport a 40 per cent winning rate at the Banks's Stadium, averaging 1.47 points per game which is good enough to sit them in 71st place in the country.
Villa and West Brom are whiskers apart in the rankings at 80th and 82nd respectively, with Steve Bruce's side averaging 1.41 points per game alongside a 36 per cent win rate - not helped by their relegation season in 2015/16.
Albion meanwhile average 1.4 points per encounter and a slightly higher 38 per cent winning clip, but likely owe their bottom placed ranking to their similarly disastrous relegation campaign last season.
Manchester City unsurprisingly top the UK rankings, averaging 2.36 points per game at home, whilst fellow promoted side Cardiff City make the top ten, averaging 1.83 points per home fixture.
Sunderland are the lowest ranked team in the country, earning just 1.15 points per game at the Stadium of Light, while the only Premier League side in the bottom 10 is Crystal Palace, who have managed just 1.35 points per encounter at Selhurst Park.
