No imminent new signings for Wolves
Wolves may have to wait to make their first splash in the transfer market this summer, sporting director Kevin Thelwell believes.
Loan stars Diogo Jota and Willy Boly are likely to have their permanent moves made official in the near future, joining for £13million and £10m respectively.
Decisions are also being made on Benik Afobe, Alfred N’Diaye and Ruben Vinagre, although it’s understand that Leo Bonatini won’t be joining with Wolves decided against making his move from Al Hilal a long-term one.
As for new players, Thelwell said it was far more important to wait and sign the right man rather than jump in too soon.
“I can’t see anyone making decisions right now, agents players or football clubs,” Thelwell told the Express & Star said of the current state of play.
“Although it doesn’t seem like it we are still very early in the window.
“We’ve done a lot of work and diligence and we are talking to a lot of people.
“The ideal thing would be to get as many done early as possible, but at the end of the day it’s about getting the right players.
“The market will dictate when we’re able to do that and when we’re not.
“I’d love to be able to say we’ll get two or three done very early and I hope that’s the case.
“But if that means us getting the wrong player then I’d prefer not to do that and I’d prefer to wait.”
The sporting director will play a key role this summer as Wolves look to put together a top flight squad.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone,” he added. “Everyone is desperate to prove they’re capable of working in the Premier League and me and the staff at Wolves are no different.
“We understand exactly what the football philosophy is with Nuno, we’re clear about the types of players he wants so now it’s about getting out there and doing the job.
“Let’s hope we get to the next window pleased with the job we’ve all done.”
