A day to remember as Wolves players celebrate
Midfielder Alfred N’Diaye called Wolves’ promotion party day ‘amazing’ as 80,000 fans took part in the historic celebrations.
The 28-year-old Senegalese international was on board the parade buses and celebrated on stage at West Park with his team-mates and manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
N’Diaye has completed his loan spell with Wolves from Spanish outfit Villarreal but wants to stay at the club – with talks due to get under way as the season has now finished.
N’Diaye said: “Today has been amazing. There is 30,000 people that are here today that have come out to see us at West Park and it is fantastic.
“We have had a phenomenal season. It is good Wolves are going back to the Premier League.
“I hope we can do good next season.”
Left wing-back Barry Douglas has provided 14 assists in a stellar debut season in English football.
The Scot also earned his first international cap due to his excellent form for Wolves.
He said: “We’ll remember this forever.
“There’ll be loads of photos and videos that we can look back on and reminisce, we’re just trying to take it all in because these moments don’t happen very often in a career.
“I’m thankful that I’m part of this special team and I get to enjoy this.
“Being on the bus was incredible, I’ve got goosebumps thinking about it just now.
“It shows you what a great fanbase we’ve got and all the hard work has paid off.
“It’s brilliant to see the celebrations with the fans, it gives us so much satisfaction.
“We’re trying to take it in because it’s an incredible moment.
“It’s special being part of this squad, it’s maybe something we don’t realise now because we’re still living it and playing but definitely in years to come we’ll look and back and think yeah, do you know what, that was a special season.
“We’ve won the league in emphatic style and this is a day that will live with the city of Wolverhampton for many years.”
Captain Danny Batth has been with the club since he was a youngster, progressing through the academy.
The Brierley Hill-born centre-half said it was a day he and his team-mates would remember for the rest of their lives.
“It’s how you picture it growing up and now to see it is unbelievable,” he said.
“It’ll be a day we’ll all remember for the rest of our lives.
“This is what you work for, training morning and afternoon. We’ve managed to get there and I hope every single person has had a special day.”
And as for the Championship trophy, Batth said: “It’s got a dent in it! It wasn’t my fault!”
