The buses have been decorated and the sun is shining - the stage is set for Wolves' promotion party.

Wolves have secured promotion to the Premier League and lifted the Championship trophy. And now Sunday's final match against Sunderland is out of the way, all that's left to do is party.

Wolverhampton will be filled with old gold today as thousands of Wolves supporters flock to the city to celebrate the club's success.

The city was packed for Wolves' bus parade in 2003

Thirty thousand people have got tickets for the promotion party in West Park and tens of thousands more are expected to line the city streets to watch Nuno and his team's open-top bus tour.

Follow the festivities throughout the day with our LIVE blog here.

What celebrations are planned?

Firstly a private civic reception will be held for the players, hosted by the deputy mayor of Wolverhampton.

The Wolves squad and staff will then be showing off the Championship trophy during an open-top bus tour from the city centre to West Park.

They’ll then be joining in the celebrations at the all-ticket ‘Promotion Party in the Park’ in West Park, where local soul singer Beverley Knight is among the star acts.

Finally the team is set to make its way to an afterparty at Starworks Warehouse in Frederick Street.

What’s happening when?

The gates at West Park will open at around 10am and nobody will be allowed entry after 11.30am, with the council emphasising the need for guests to arrive early.

The buses will leave Lichfield Street at noon and arrive at the park at 12.45pm, when the park party will begin in earnest. The West Park event runs until 3pm.

Doors at the Starworks party open at 1pm and the players are expected to arrive at some point between 1pm and 3pm.

What's the weather going to be like?

Sunny!

The entire Bank Holiday Weekend is expected to be dry, sunny and warm but the highest temperatures are expected on Monday, when the mercury could reach 24C (75F).

According to the Met Office: "Over the Bank Holiday it will stay dry, with plenty of sunshine. In light winds it will feel very warm, with these conditions lasting into Tuesday."

Fingers crossed.

What exactly is happening in West Park?

The ‘Promotion Party in the Park’ is being marketed as ‘family-friendly fun’ and will feature food, drink, music and fun-fair rides.

The council has said various special guests will be performing, but so far Beverley Knight, Project 21 and George Windsor are the only confirmed performers.

Former keeper Matt Murray will host the event as part of the Signal 107 team.

There will be a concert stage for performances as well as big screens showing the parade and highlights from the season.

A disabled viewing area will also be available for those who need it.

Can I take food and drink in?

You can take food into the park but no booze - security staff will be searching people as they arrive at the park gates.

Street food, soft drinks and alcohol will all be available to buy from stalls in West Park.

How do I get tickets to the park party?

You can’t (unless you know someone with a spare).

Every single one of the 30,000 free tickets was snapped up within 50 minutes of being released online on Tuesday and the council have said no more will be made available even if some are returned.

Tickets to the park party sold out in under an hour

Babies and toddlers will also require a ticket, while the only dogs allowed in the park will be guide dogs.

Some season ticket holders were frustrated at not being given priority for tickets to the event, with anyone being able to secure four tickets for free.

People without park tickets are being encouraged to enjoy the open-top bus parade.

Where will I be able to see the buses?

Thousands of supporters are expected to line the roads between the art gallery and West Park.

The starting point for the parade will be Wolverhampton Art Gallery, in Lichfield Street, where two open-top double-decker buses will depart at noon.

The route the two open-top buses will be taking

They will then travel down Lichfield Street and past Queen Square, where the ‘Man On the Oss’ statue is located.

The parade will head along that road onto Darlington Street before making a right turn onto Waterloo Road, near Molineux, at around 12.30pm.

The bus will continue along Waterloo Road and pass over the ring road before heading onto New Hampton Road West.

Then the two buses will turn left onto Landsdowne Road, before turning left onto Park Road West at 12.45pm and arriving into West Park.

What will the buses look like?

We haven’t seen the finished product, but Wolves’ head of marketing shared a sneak preview of the bus artwork on Twitter.

The striking graphics will be displayed on two double-decker buses as they make their way through the crowds around the city.

The design features a selection of Wolves celebrating alongside the slogan ‘We are Wolves... We are Champions.”

Wolves' head of marketing Russell Jones posted this photo of the open-top bus artwork

The work has been carried out in partnership between Wolves and Wolverhampton council.

Russell Jones, head of marketing at Wolves, shared the picture and said: “Bus wrap coming along nicely for the @Wolves @WolvesCouncil Open Top Bus Parade #Proud2BeWolves #wolvesaywe”

How can I see the parade and the park party?

With gates to West Park closing at 11.30am, you will not be able to attend both the parade and the park party.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be at the parade and park party

However big screens will be streaming both events in the park and in the city centre.

This means fans without tickets to the park party can still watch it live in Queen Square, while fans in the park will be able to watch the parade from there.

What’s happening at Starworks and can I get tickets?

The Starworks Warehouse is hosting the official promotion afterparty from 1pm until late (last entry is at 3pm).

As well as drinking and dancing, the venue will be showing highlights from the season on a giant screen and there will be a charity auction and raffle in aid of Carl Ikeme and Foundation DB.

As well as players and staff, the special guests include legend Steve Bull, ex-keeper Matt Murray and Sky Sports reporter Johnny Phillips.

In the words of the organisers: “Fly the flag, raise a glass, sing our beloved Wolves songs and just have a bloody good time.”

The event is 18+ only and although tickets have sold out on Skiddle, at the time of writing some were still available for £6. Find out more at www.starworkswarehouse.co.uk.

Where can I park?

Normal Wolves matchday parking restrictions will be in place on Monday, with various city-centre car parks available.

The council has provided this map showing the available car parks:
