Wolves documentary: Show goes behind the scenes at Molineux
Fans can enjoy a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Wolves’ title-winning season when a special documentary airs on television this weekend.
Sky Sports’ In the Wolf Pack includes interviews from players Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Willy Boly – as well as chairman Jeff Shi.
As well as being granted access to the club’s Compton training ground, the cameras were also allowed in the dressing room ahead of Wolves final pre-season friendly against Leicester City.
They then followed Nuno Espirito Santo’s side throughout the season and filmed as they clinched an historic return to the Premier League.
“It was my first time out of my country, so always you have a little bit of doubt,” said Neves, reflecting on his first season at the club. “But when I started training with the boys I saw that we could do good things, so it is not a surprise that the season has gone in this way.
“If we can, we want to make a little bit of history with the 100 points, but the most important thing is that we are in the Premier League.”
During the documentary, Shi discusses Wolves’ relationship with super agent Jorge Mendes – with the chairman insisting he is the one that calls the shots when it comes to transfers at Molineux.
“The players, they are our players,” he said. They have signed a contract with us.
“Jorge is my fiend but he has no right to tell me what to do.”
Shi also outlines his ambitious plans for the club – both on and off the field.
“One thing I can say for sure is that we are not going to the Premier League only to try and stay up,” he said.
“The training ground, the stadium, they are good for the Championship but if you compare with the Premier League they are not good enough.
“The first priority is to have better facilities for Nuno and his squad. We will try and provide a better environment for the players to perform on the pitch.”
The show has been produced by broadcaster and Express & Star columnist Johnny Phillips.
And he hopes Wolves fans enjoy the exclusive access Sky were granted.
“It was such a progressive step forward that Jeff Shi and Laurie Dalrymple (managing director) were prepared to embrace Sky Sports’ idea for a behind-the- scenes documentary like this once more,” he said.
“And obviously it would not have happened without Nuno Espirito Santo being prepared to allow us such great access to his first team squad.
“There were no areas off limits so I hope In the Wolf Pack manages to capture the story of Wolves’ season from inside the dressing room.”
'In The Wolf Pack' will be screened on Sunday morning at 11.30am on the Sky Sports Main Event and Football Channel. It will also be available on-demand, with further repeat showings in the coming weeks.
