The gruelling Spring Wolf Run will take place in Warwickshire on Sunday.

Club staff have chosen to tackle the course to help raise funds for a charity that has received incredible backing since Wolves keeper Carl was diagnosed with acute leukaemia last summer.

The latest effort to raise cash for Cure Leukaemia has so far netted more than £5,000 – with Wolves chiefs vowing to match the total.

Paul Richards, safeguarding services manager, match officials rep and fans parliament chairman at Wolves, said: “On Sunday many of my colleagues and myself will be running in the Wolf Run 2018 for @CureLeukaemia and for our awesome keeper @Carl_Ikeme so please donate what you can #teamkemes.”

Wolves managing director Laurie Dalrymple said on Twitter: “[Jeff Shi] and I are gutted we can’t do this (diary clash, not harbouring any Derby selection expectations), but extremely proud of the efforts of the @Wolves team and the funds raised.

“So the least the club can do is match the funding raised! Best of luck to all involved #TeamKemes.”

Cure Leukaemia described the club’s promise to match the fundraising total as ‘an incredible gesture’. Wolves were honoured by the charity last year for its fundraising efforts since Carl’s diagnosis.

Cure Leukaemia handed the club a Chairman’s Award for its work supporting the charity throughout 2017. Numerous fundraisers were held – including a 24-hour penalty shoot-out which raised £13,000.

A bucket collection before the club’s first game of the season at Molineux gathered just short of £8,000.

Other fundraisers have included fans walking from Cannock to Molineux. Cash was also raised through printing goalkeeper shirts with Ikeme 1 on the back.

Artist Louise Cobbold has completed 21 paintings of Wolves scenes from throughout the season which will be auctioned off for Cure Leukaemia.
