Nuno Espirito Santo's team were seemingly cruising at 2-0 up but red cards for Ruben Neves and Matt Doherty saw them clinging on during six minutes of injury time during which Patrick Bamford scored for Boro.

The full time whistle sparked wild celebrations with Nuno sprinting onto the pitch and his exhausted players revelling in the win with some 1,800 Wolves fans.

Coady said: "It was an unbelievable game. It's a huge result for the football club and the lads.

"It was brilliant, everybody dug in, absolutely everybody. We saw it out fantastically well and you saw with the crowd at the end it was fantastic to share that with everyone involved."

Goals from Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro had put Wolves in charge at half time, but the second half was a different story.

Coady added: "Looking back with 11 men I thought we were fantastic, we dictated the play, scored two fantastic goals and I thought we were on top at the start of the second half as well.

"The way we played was really good but to show the character that we did – we've done it all season – we've been repetitive with it, the gaffer instils it in us every single day.

"We know we're good when we go forward, we score lots of goals and have some fantastic attacking talent and we're good when we've got the ball in their half.

"Ruben's red card changed the situation but in the end we deserved the three points.

"It was about organisation. It doesn't matter if you're down to 10, nine, eight, you just need to dig in and make sure you come away with the win.

"It's a tough place to come, I've never really got anything here."

Wolves face Hull City at Molineux on Tuesday knowing they need to win three of their final seven games to guarantee promotion.

They then face second-placed Cardiff City in a huge game in Wales on Friday night.

"We need to keep on going, there's a long way to go, seven games to go," Coady added.

"We've got momentum at the minute and as long as we're playing well and doing what the manager says hopefully we've be okay."
