Nuno hails professional Wolves performance and calls for consistency following victory

Two goals from Matt Doherty and Benik Afobe's strike on his first start since returning to Wolves earned Nuno's men an easy Molineux victory over the struggling Royals.

But, with the scoreline goalless midway through the first period, Jota was helped off following an innocuous innocent. The winger could put no weight on his right leg.

But the Wolves chief was delighted with his side's display as they limited Reading to barely any efforts of goal on note in an impressive response from Saturday's setback against Villa.

"It was a good game of football, a good performance and a good result," said Nuno.

"I think our fans enjoyed the game and we were in control of the game. We controlled the situation, defended well and organised the situations."

The victory, coupled with Villa's home defeat to QPR, meant that Wolves increased the gap to third place to 10 points.

Doherty broke the deadlock shortly before half-time before Afobe doubled the lead on the hour mark, killing any hopes of a Reading fightback.

Irishman Doherty sealed a fine evening with a stunning third as Reading hoped for damage limitation.

The Molineux boss was pleased with how quiet his side were able to keep Reading's attack. The visitors included both Dave Edwards and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson in their starting line-up but neither enjoyed a happy Wolves return.

"We gave nothing to Reading. Reading is a good team that always scores in every game but we were able to control that," added Nuno.

"Of course we are happy.

"But we are looking at consistency. We need consistency.

"Today we looked in control, yes. It was a deserved win and a well-played game."

The boss admitted that the sight of Jota, who is often the target of robust challenges in the Championship, struggling with the apparent ankle problem was a cause for concern.

"We are worried," he added. "We know Diogo, When he cannot go on the pitch it is because he is in pain.

"He has pain. Let's see what he has.

"But the squad is there.

"We will see the report - I'm not a specialist!"
