Bully previews Wolves' derby at Villa
I can't wait for today's big game at Villa Park.
It's certainly been an interesting week on and off the field but what a great win that was at Leeds on Wednesday.
I was a bit apprehensive to start with and a bit nervous, wondering how we'd turn up.
But after 10 minutes it was pretty clear we were back to the old Wolves and they ran out very deserving winners.
They missed a host of chances early on and to be honest they're trying to score the perfect goal all the time which is absolutely doing me head in!
I was shouting 'shoot' about 20 times in the first half but they kept wanting to walk it in.
It is frustrating because they can all ping one from range, Diogo Jota, Barry Douglas, Ivan Cavaleiro, they've all scored screamers this season.
But once we got the two goals there was little doubt we'd win and then to round it off Benik Afobe got on the scoresheet too.
It must have been a massive relief for Benik. He's a natural goalscorer and he just needs a bit of time to get settled into the way the team plays, which isn't easy when you're coming off the bench every week.
I've said that once he gets one he could score a few, so let's hope that happens.
It'll be interesting to see whether he's brought into the XI today. Leo Bonatini gives you the work rate and the team play but he missed a couple of chances at Elland Road and seems to have lost his spark in front of goal.
They're very different players – one likes it to feet and one over the shoulder...I'd probably stick with Bonatini from the start and have Afobe as the hungry wildcard from the bench.
If we'd lost on Wednesday there would be huge pressure going into tomorrow's game. Now, if Villa do win, we're just back to where we were on Tuesday night, seven points ahead.
However Wolves will want the bragging rights and the 13-point lead, so why not go there and win.
I've had Villa fans chirping in my ear saying the gap's closing, etc, but they need the points more than us now so let's play our normal, natural game.
It'll be an intimidating atmosphere but if we keep cool heads then hopefully the three points will be ours.
Everyone's been having their say on Jorge Mendes this week...I think it's just a bit of jealousy.
Mendes has done a good job for Wolves with the players he's helped bring in. He's been around a long time and done things by the book. We've seen in this week's accounts that Wolves have taken a big risk with the money they've spent, but hopefully it will all pay off very soon.
